Consultation & Treatment Planning

You’ll meet with your Campbell dentist to discuss your smile goals, and they’ll perform an exam to make sure veneers are right for you. They will take digital intraoral scans of your mouth and create a custom treatment plan just for you.

Preparation

After you’ve been approved for treatment, your dentist will begin to remove a bit of the tooth’s natural enamel to get a rough surface texture. The amount of enamel removed is very small, and will not affect the strength of the tooth or increase sensitivity.

Placement

Once the teeth are prepped, each veneer is bonded to the front surface of the tooth with a special composite and adhesive. Once bonded, veneers stay firmly in place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Veneers are an irreversible procedure. While the prosthetic itself will need to be changed at some point because of wearing down, you will need to get a new set.

Tooth enamel doesn’t grow back, which means that if you do agree to get veneers, it will be a life-long commitment.

Veneers can last around 10-15 years or more. However, oral hygiene and veneer maintenance greatly influence the lifespan of veneers. Your doctor will provide you with detailed information about how to care for and extend the lifespan of your new smile.

Veneers require minimum maintenance. With regular brushing and flossing, you can enjoy your new smile for years.

However, if you want to increase the lifespan of your veneers, you can also:

  • Avoid highly staining foods and beverages (coffee, tea, tomato sauces, etc.)
  • Reduce the among of hard foods you eat (chips, nuts, crackers)
  • Get a mouthguard if you grind your teeth
  • Don’t smoke
  • Get routine oral health check-ups and professional cleanings
